SUM, SUMIF and SUMIFS Functions in Excel

Sum, SumIF and SumIFS functions are very useful in excel to add up list of numeric values to get some result based on the criteria.

SUM :

Syntax:

=SUM(number1, [number2], ...)

To add up the list of numeric values from particular column or row in excel as shown in the below picture.

SUMIF :

Syntax:

=SUMIF(range, criteria, [sum_range])

It is used to summation of selected range of cells with specific criteria. The below example will calculate the sum of the range where the product name is "Car" as shown in the below picture.

SUMIFS :

Syntax:

=SUMIFS(sum_range, criteria1_range1, criteria1, ...)

It is used to summation the particular range with multiple criteria. The below example will calculate the sum of the range where the product name and country matches as shown in the below picture.
