Protecting the excel workbook is helpful to keep our data confidential and safe from unauthorized access. No one can access information of that workbook without the password. Confidential data should be keep with more security, this password protect method will make our information to be safe from unauthorized access. Follow the below steps to protect the workbook.
Step 1:
Go to menu bar and click "File->Save As" where you want to protect the excel workbook as shown in the below picture.

When you click the above option a "Save AS" window will appear as below.Save As Window |
Step 3:
In that window, click Tools option which is near to Save button. A drop down list will be displayed as shown in the below picture.Click Tools To put password |
Step 4:
Click General Option... from the drop down list, a window will appear to type the password as below.General Option to type password |
Step 5:
Type the desired password in "Password to Open:" text box and click OK button. Another window will appear to re-enter the same password to confirm as shown in the below picture.Re-enter Password |
Step 6:
Now your workbook is ready with password protection. Close your workbook and re-open. It will ask you to type the password the open the workbook as below.Give Password to open workbook |
